Environment

Goal

Reduce the climate impact of the operation by 50 per cent by 2030.

Results and Activities 2025

  • Increased climate impact by 6.0 % compared with 2020 (base year).
  • Decreased climate impact by 7.4% compared with 2024.
  • Reduced climate impact within Scope 1 by 77% and Scope 2 (market-based) by 66% compared with 2020 (base year).
  • Share of digital mailings: 81.2 %.
  • 607 recycled IT units, corresponding to 65.7 tonnes of avoided CO₂e emissions.
  • Work was initiated to prepare for a future commitment to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

In its efforts to reduce the climate impact of its operations, Resurs works with both active measures within its own operations and initiatives that encourage employees and customers to make more sustainable choices, including through collaborations with various partners.

Environment and climate are prioritised areas for Resurs. Resurs has established a target to reduce total greenhouse gas emissions by 50 percent by 2030 compared with the base year 2020. The target includes Scope 1, Scope 2 according to the market-based method, and selected Scope 3 categories in accordance with the company’s greenhouse gas inventory. Scope 3 category 15 (investments) is not included in the target boundary.

Resurs’ objective is to reduce its environmental impact through continuous development of its environmental work. This includes, among other things, energy efficiency measures, the use of renewable electricity, reduced resource consumption, and consideration of environmental impact in purchasing, premises usage and travel.

Resurs also place strong emphasis on increasing employee knowledge and facilitating more conscious environmental choices in everyday work. A mandatory training course in environment and climate is therefore included in Resurs Academy Online Training.

Digitalised marketing and customer communication

An important area in reducing environmental impact is the digitalisation of customer communication and marketing. An increasing share of customer notifications and marketing is carried out digitally, contributing to reduced paper usage and lower emissions related to distribution. During 2025, a total of 82.1 percent of Resurs Bank’s notifications from the bank’s account system were digital. During the period January–June, the share of digital notifications amounted to 76.75 percent, and during July–December to 87.35 percent. Since 2022, almost no commercial marketing has been sent to customers by post. Most of the marketing is now conducted through digital channels, contributing to lower emissions and more resource-efficient communication.

Resurs climate impact

Resurs conducts annual climate calculations in accordance with the GHG Protocol with 2020 as the base year. The calculations are based on an operational control approach, and Scope 2 is reported according to the market-based method. Biogenic emissions are excluded from the calculations.

The climate calculation for 2025 shows that total greenhouse gas emissions within the target boundary amounted to 1,316 tCO₂e, corresponding to an increase of 6.0 percent compared with the base year 2020 and a decrease of 7.4 percent compared with 2024.

The target level for 2030 is 621 tCO₂e, corresponding to a reduction of 50 percent compared with 2020.

Compared with the base year 2020, emissions within Scope 1 have decreased by 77 percent and within Scope 2 (market-based) have decreased by 66 percent.

The development is mainly influenced by emissions related to business travel and purchased goods and services.

More detailed information on climate-related risks, their impact on the operations, and how these are managed and followed up is available in Resurs’ Annual and Sustainability Report.
